IRWIN , CLAUDE E. - age 83 of Seymour, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at home. He was a charter member of Seymour United Methodist Church where he served on Monday Morning Market. Claude retired from ALCOA with 41 years of service and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He served with the 8th Army Air Corps 331 Bomber Squadron as a radio operator during World War II where he participated in the Battle of Normandy Battle of the Bulge Rhineland Central Europe and European Air Offensive with rank of Corporal. Claude was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Preceded in death by: parents, Allen and Sarah Irwin son, Larry brothers, James and Charles Irwin and sister, Ruth White. Survivors include: wife of 60 years, Eveline Irwin son and wife, Edward and Shirley Irwin son, Gary Irwin grandsons and wives, Sean and LeeAnn Lance and Shirley Jonathan and Becky Irwin granddaughter, Caitlyn Irwin great-grandchildren, Sean, Jr. Anna Shelby and Alex Irwin brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Carol Irwin sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Earl Barrows. Special thanks to Adventa Hospice Dr. Gary Lethco Dorothy and Cheryl. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm on Friday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 8:30 pm, Rev. Rae Mullins and Rev. Charles Maynard officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Saturday for 11 am interment services.
