McCARTER, RALPH - age 70, of Seymour passed away January 26, 2002 at home. He had retired from the Children's Hospital after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by daughter, Barbara McCarter; stepson, Floyd Simerly; father and mother, Amos and Isabelle McCarter; and four brothers, Claude, Harry, Hubert and Harold McCarter. He is survived by his loving family and wife of forty-eight and one half years, Opal McCarter; daughter and son in law, Jean and LeRoy Bittle; granddaughter, Wendy Romines; step grandson, Michael Allbright; brothers and sisters in law, Bill Headrick of Strawberry Plains, Elmer and Margaret McCarter, Ruth and Bobby Cate, Kaye and Leon Vess, Anna Tucker, Linda McCarter, Marie Lambert, Evelyn Finger; uncle, Harlan Lowe; special uncle, Johnny Manning; mother in law, Ella Simerly and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday January 28, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the Highland South Chapel with Rev. James McCarter officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby and Quinton Cate, Leon Vess, Michael Lee, Tracy Harmon, and Dustin Parks. Interment will be in the Highland South Mausoleum on Tuesday January 29, 2002 at 3 p.m. Highland South Funeral Home has arrangements. 573-7300.
