Mrs. Mary Helen Manning Fritts, age 74, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on October 17, 1938 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. She was the loving daughter of the late, Henry Melvin and Connie Kathleen Owen Manning.
She was raised in the Knoxville area and was a graduate of East High School in Knoxville. She had attended business school in Knoxville. Mary was united in marriage on Nov. 16, 1957 in Knoxville to Lee R. Fritts. This union was blessed with three daughters. Lee was serving in the United States Air Force and the family traveled and lived in many parts of the United States. Mary and Lee had resided in Jefferson County since 1985, having moved here from Louisville, Kentucky.
Mary was raised in the Baptist faith but had become a member of the Albany United Methodist Church in Albany, Georgia when the family lived there after moving to Louisville she became a member of the Preston Highway United Methodist Church. She had served as a custodian with the Southwestern School Corporation for several years. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, momma and Memaw. She enjoyed her time with her grandchildren, cooking, photography, crocheting and sewing. Mary died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 2:18 p.m. at her home in Hanover, Indiana.
A LOVING FAMILY
Mary will be missed by her loving daughters: Rachel Ashcraft and her husband, Shawn of Hanover, Indiana, Pamela M. Powell of Madison, Indiana; her loving grandchildren: Jessica Wahoviak and her fiancée, David Tabraham, Shannon Bennett and Sean Bennett; her adoring great grandson: Caiden Tabraham; her sister in law: Eunice Manning of Fayetteville, North Carolina; her brother in law: Jim Fritts of Franklin, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Melvin Manning died, December 31, 1990; her mother, Connie Kathleen Owen Manning died, April 15, 1994; her husband, Lee R. Fritts died, July 12, 2003; her daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Fritts died, June 20, 1988; her sister, Nadine Yancy; her brothers, Henry "Hank" Manning and Jim Manning.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., by the Rev. Troy Hedges at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may call Sunday, from 12 Noon until time of the service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
