Virginia Helen Lewelling Amburn, age 83, of Sevierville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 11, 2011. She was born in Sevier County on August 9, 1928, to Pearl and Gladys Lewelling. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a long time member of New Era Baptist Church and more recently of First Baptist Church of Pigeon Forge where she worked in the children’s division.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother Nieta Lewelling, mother and father-in-law Tom and Dessie Amburn, and brother-in-law W.D. Tarwater.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years, Tom Amburn Jr., her daughter and son-in-law Pam and Bill Thomas, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Darlene Amburn, grandchildren Kesi García, Logan Thomas, and Drew Amburn, and great-granddaughter Isabella García, sister Mary Tarwater, nephew Steve Tarwater and wife Susan, and stepsiblings Marceil Joyner, Sharon Linebarger, Leroy Maples, Marvin Maples, Dwight Maples, brother-in-law Robert Amburn, sisters-in-law and husbands Carolyn and J.C. Starkey, Marilyn and Chris Evans, Marcia and W.M. Gann, and several nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the staff of Wellington Place Assisted Living and Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5PM until 7PM followed by funeral service at 7PM at Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville.
