STALLINGS, REV. J.R. "ROY" - age 80 of Strawberry Plains, passed away Thursday, September 30, 1999 at UT Medical Center. He was a member of Pleasant Grove (Piney) Baptist Church, a WWII veteran, having served in ETO General Pattons 3rd army 736 tank battalion. He was a Baptist minister, having served churches, Mansfield Gap Baptist and Pleasant Grove (Haworth) in Jefferson Co., New Salem Baptist, Gist Creek Baptist in Sevier Co., New Hereford Baptist in South Dakota. He also served 2 years as Poneer Missionary in South Dakota and Director of Missions in Grainger Co., for 5 years. Survived by beloved wife of 59 years, Estelle Large Stallings; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Bennie Campbell; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald A. and Vivian Stallings, all of Strawberry Plains, J.R. Jr. and Georgia Stallings of Rutledge; granddaughter, Sandra Mills of IL; grandsons and wives, Alfred and Lori Stallings of Strawberry Plains, Allen and Apryl Stallings of Knoxville, Marshall and Heather Callin of Powell, and Erick Stallings of Rutledge; beloved great-grandchildren, Autumn, Sarah, and Mathew James Stallings; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday Fielden Chapel, with Rev.'s Elmer Sharp and Bruce Martin officiating. Interment in Piney Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove (Piney) Building Fund.
