Janis Ruth Buche-Frederick, age 80, passed away at home, Wednesday, January 23, 2013. She loved Gatlinburg. In the past, she had been asked to work with the City Council and advise on the city budget. Janis, along with her aunt and sister, often beleaguered the City Hall to keep projects and attractions feasible, and of benefit to all residents.
Janis graduated Pi Beta Phi as co-valedictorian, attended Lincoln Memorial University, and then, in her 40s, received a degree in Psychology at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Jarvis of Gatlinburg, and, Lewis Buche, of Lowell, Indiana; her sister, Barbra Ford; neice, Kristin; Uncle Dewey Moore; and Aunt N. Ruth Moore, Aunt Loretta Shorty Pierce, of Gatlinburg, and, Bob Wyler of Lowell.
She’s survived by her daughter, Julia Ann Frederick; her son, Douglas W. Frederick, Gatlinburg; and her brother Glen Buche (Karen) of Lowell Indiana; of Sevier County, niece Beverly Schneider, great nephew Mitchell Schneider (Shelly), their children Luke and Molly, Dee Ann Kilpatrick (Kevin) and their daughter Madison; of Lowell, Indiana, niece Debbie Wyler, and her sons Justin, Kevin, and Alex, niece Karen Cheesman (John), and their children Katie and Michael. Nephew David Buche, and his children Melissa and Tyler, and their mother Amy Miller; special friends, Dr. Ann Macintosh, M.D., Dorothy and Martha Beeman, Paulette Ogle and family, Charlotte and Bob Connor, Susan Carr, and her neighbors on Proffitt Road, Pauleen Carlton-Ireland, Marshall Carlton, the librarians at Anna Porter, Food City, BBT bank, and so many more. Ps. 121.
Janis requested no service or memorials, and donations in her name in lieu flowers to Anna Porter Library, Gatlinburg, 436-5588. Rather, she requested that people remember her in their visits to Greenbrier, in the park.
