Irene Christopher Tansil, 86, of Sevierville passed away Sunday, October 05, 2003 at her residence.
She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Sevierville and a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class. During her membership in the U.M.W. she held various offices. Besides her church affiliations, she was active in the Cultural Center.
Irene was born June 25, 1917 in Sevier County to the late Charles Walker and Jennie Fox Inman. Her brother, Charles E. Inman and husbands, Clarence E. Christopher and Lewis A. Tansil preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Robert E. Christopher and wife, Margaret Marshall, Charles E. Christopher and wife, Sue Hanna, Allen Tansil and wife, Jo Ellen Giles; daughters, Eleanor "Dollie" Tansil Murphy and husband, Richard, Julie Tansil; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Al Christopher and wife, Lois, John Christopher and wife, Vanita; sisters-in-law, Nell Inman, Mildred Cantrell and Barbara Quinn.
Service for Irene will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. H.B. Hauk, Jr. and Rev. Bobby Ely officiating. Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8 at Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 7 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
