Blaine “Lickey” Hurst age 85 a lifelong resident of Richardson Cove passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at his home.
Born on June 13, 1928 to Charlie and Mary Blalock Hurst in Sevier County where he was raised and attended school.
During his early years he drove a truck for his father’s lumber business. Later he worked for Sevier County Road Department and for several years driving for Blalock Construction Co. until he was disabled by a train, truck accident.
Preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Mary Blalock Hurst; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Ben Justice; infant, sister, Wilma Faye; brother, Walter (Bud) Hurst; Grandparents, Walter and Nancy Blalock; Ki and Melissa Hurst.
Survivors include his Wife of 64 years Marie Rayfield Hurst of Sevierville; sons, Charles Hurst of Sevierville and Oliver (Sheri) Hurst of Powell, TN; brother, Glen (Martha Hurst of Sevierville; sister, Evelyn King (Clay) of Maryville; 3 grandchildren, April (Barry) Warren and Sulenna O’Conner (Michael), Cody Dodson; 2 great grandchildren, Halla Warren and Bode Warren; special friends, Glen Williams, Roy Phillips and Larry Carr.
Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Williams, Larry Carr, Cody Dodson, Roy Phillips, and Michael O’Conner.
Family and friends will meet at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Shady Grove Cemetery for graveside service with Rev. Lee Carr officiating.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday March 21, 2014 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
