Billy Gene Huff age 73, retired disabled U. S. Navy Veteran. passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center in Sevierville.
Billy is a member of Mountain View Missionary Baptist church.
Billy is preceded in death by his mother and father, Willie and Edgar Huff; daughter, Debbie; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Carlos Byrd; brother, Edgar Dewey Huff.
Billy joined the U. S. Navy at the age of eighteen and retired after twenty one years of service to the country he loved. He had a deep commitment and was proud of the time he spent serving in the armed services. He was honored with ‘Sailor of the Year Award’ in 1971 (out of all the U.S. Navy). But above all his accomplishments Billy loved to tell others of his love for God, the church, his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Wilma Huff; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Sue Huff; grandchildren, Tanisha, Tanaka and Cory; great grandchildren, Logan and Dylan; sister, Wanda Huff Lee and husband, Eugene; brother, Kenneth Huff and wife, Barbara, nieces and nephews, Gail Sims, Carla Byrd, Genia McDuffee, Kara Breeden, Kim Margrave and Eddie Huff.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Sevier County Health Care Center for their excellent love and care. They would also like to thank Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center for the kindness shown to Billy and his family. The family wishes to convey special thanks to Jean Adcock, Vivian (Virginia) Tullock and Ricky Vaughn for their friendship and compassion.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Mountain View Missionary Baptist church with Rev. Jack Hitch officiating.
Interment will follow the service in Mountain View Cemetery.
American Legion Post #104 will perform military rites at the graveside service.
The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 at Rawlings funeral Home in Sevierville.
