Mack Galyon, Jr., age 72 of Seymour, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, May 23, 2009. He was a member of West Millers Cove Baptist Church in Walland, TN, where he led music for two years. A member of The Gospel 5 Quartet, he also served as Choir Director, worked in the Vacation Bible Schools, and served as Sunday School teacher and Deacon in several Baptist churches in Anderson, Blount, Knox, and Sevier Counties.
Mack was a graduate of Young High School Class of 1955 where as a student he played football, was a member of the Key Club, and sang in the choir. A veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve, he was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Masonic Alpha Lodge #376 of Clinton, TN and the Scottish Rite of Knoxville.
He was a machinist at Y-12 and K-25 in Oak Ridge for 35 years and at the TVA Bull Run Steam Plant for 10 years. He was the owner of Galyon’s Collectibles in Flea Traders Paradise in Sevierville and co-owner of Galyon’s Gulf on Chapman Highway.
Mack was an avid sports fan who also loved southern gospel music, enjoyed antiquing and collectibles, fishing, coin collecting, beekeeping, and farming, and he was always happy and ready to tell a good joke.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hattie Mae Thomas and Mack Galyon, Sr., brothers and sisters-in-law Troy and Juanita Galyon, Arthur and Margaret Galyon, Johnie and Nell Galyon, sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Jack Key, and brother-in-law Adrian Jett.

Daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and Greg Perkins of Charlotte, NC, Donna-Kaye and Rev. Daniel Rosenbalm of Knoxville, Dr. Cathy and Elias Galyon-Keramidas of Morgantown, WV
Grandchildren: Nicholas and Spencer Perkins, Kevin, Adam, and Noah Rosenbalm, Eric Bivens
Brother and sister-in-law: Rev. Ralph and Marjorie Galyon
Sisters and brother-in-law: Lucy Jett, Faye and Don Alleman

The family also expresses a special thanks to his doctors and caregivers: Dr. Kenneth Reese and nurse Debbie, Dr. Mohammad Iqubal, Dr. Richard Lee and nurse Pam Huskey, Dr. Charles Bruton, Dr. Gregory Midis, the Fort Sanders Regional nurses on the 8th and 5th floors, and Amedysis Hospice and Trenton Harrell, RN.

Serving as honorary pallbearer is Dr. Steven Jett who is on missionary work in Germany.
Funeral service 10 AM Wednesday in Galilee Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Wheeler and Rev. Daniel Rosenbalm officiating. A Masonic service will be held immediately after the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Young officiating. The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Tuesday at Galilee Baptist Church.
