SEVIERVILLE — Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals this morning identified the body found last week in a burned home as Loretta Dodgen.
Seals said Dodgen, 65, did not die of a gunshot wound, but he declined to elaborate further on the cause of her death.
Dodgen’s body was found about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, after firefighters from the Pigeon Forge Fire Department extinguished a blaze at a trailer at 2289 Spruce Way.
Authorities also found Johnny M. Dodgen, 51, of the same address, suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. Johnny Dodgen was married to Loretta Dodgen and the couple shared the residence at Spruce Way, Seals said.
Johnny Dodgen remained this morning in stable condition at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Seals said his officers have conducted brief interviews with Johnny Dodgen at the hospital, but will have an extended discussion with him upon Dodgen’s release from the medical center.
Seals said the investigation into what happened and what caused the fire at the trailer is still under way.
No charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
More details as they develop online and in Wednesday’s News Sentinel.
