Gus Edward Coleman, age 73 of Dandridge, died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 at his home. He was the son of the late James Lloyd and Lettie Thornton Coleman and was preceded in death by his brother, James C. Coleman; sisters, Mary Nell Ivey and Agnes Dinchum. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a Master Sargent in the US Army. His family had a tradition of service by being called to duty for their country. His father served in World War I, his brother, James was killed at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, and his brother Joe served in the Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Houk and Cindy Wilson and mother of his children, Golda Coleman; and grandson, Casey Wilson' sister and brother in law, Eula Kate and Richard Fox; brothers and sisters in law, Gene and Sandra Coleman and Joe and Martha Coleman; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, he family requests that memorials be made to the Chestnut Hill Cemetery Fund, in care of Sue Henry Treasurer, 2435 Rainwater Road, Dandridge, TN 37725. Graveside military services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Janiary 1, 2003 at the Chestnut Hill Cemetery by the D.A.V. Post # 102 of Newport and Eulogy by his nephew, Shannon Coleman. The family will greet friends following the service.
