Lennie O. McCarter, 91, of Cosby died Sunday, March 2, 2003 at the VA Hospital in Johnson City, Tenn. He was a farmer, member of Rocky Grove Baptist Church, and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cephus and Florence (Fowler) McCarter, five brothers and four sisters.Survivors include his wife, Veryl (Schultz) McCarter of Cosby; sons, Robert McCarter and his wife Kae of Nashville, Jimmy McCarter and his wife Donna of Cosby and Clifford McCarter and his wife Melissa of Cosby; daughter, Betty Williams and her husband Paul od Cosby; sister, Edith Ellis of Sevierville; grandchildren, Julie Houser of Sevierville, Todd Whaley of Sevierville; step-grandson, Buddy McCarter of Cosby; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Whaley of Sevierville and Katlin Houser of Sevierville.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Brown Funeral Home with the Revs. Marvin Witt and Billy Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Huskey Cemetery.
