Pigeon Forge Mayor Ralph Chance has joined Kimble Real Estate and Rentals, 3346 Parkway, as a new associate broker.
"I have known Edna and Garry (Kimble) for 25 years," Chance said. "I have watched their company grow steadily in all fields of real estate. I am honored to join such excellent real estate professionals."
Chance and his wife, Jenny, owned Middle Creek Market and Chances Market, which they operate with their daughter Tina, for several years.
"When we sold these businesses, I certainly knew I wasn't going to retire," he said. "When Edna and Garry offered me the opportunity to join them and their fine staff, I quickly accepted."
Chance said he expects to sell commercial and residential property.
"We have all watched Pigeon Forge grow over the past few years," Chance said. "All of our cities, though, and the entire county are going to continue to develop and grow. I want to participate in this and help our communities develop in an orderly manner of which we can all be proud. We must allow this area to retain its beauty. We already need more residences, and we need orderly development of commercial property, a fine balance. I look forward to working toward this goal: continued progress, continued beauty."
Chance said he was looking forward to serving all the real estate needs of the friends he has made over the years.
"I believe I fit right in with this new profession," he said. "I like people, and I like to serve them. This job with Kimble Real Estate and Rentals gives me this continued opportunity."

Jewel Chance obituary

Ralph Chance, his wife of 39 years, children and grandchildren all live in Sevier County. He's attended First Baptist Church in Sevierville for the last 40 years.
Chance was the former mayor of Pigeon Forge, working with the city for over 20 years. During this time he oversaw a variety of officials and managed a $12 million budget.
"It was a learning process," he said, "working with the city and balancing the budget. Being able to run a business or any part of government is very stressful."
In office Chance feels like he was supported by the community. That's important he said.
"I had a lot of support from the public," he said. "I love to serve the public. I enjoy working with people. I have a need to meet what people expect of me as an elected official. As an elected official, you're a public servant to people of this county. If you don't move with the people and stay close to them, you won't survive. Bottom line, I love working with people."
Chance admits that he's up against some tough competition.
"We have three good candidates tonight," Chance said. "We're all family. We're all dignified people. We're all out to do the best we can in this office. Thank you for inviting us to speak tonight."
