CATE, TOMMY R. (TOM) — age 57 of Corryton, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 4, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a faithful member of Byerley's Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by: Charlene P. Cate; and his parents, James Ralph and Maude Louise Cate.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Teresa of 16 years; son, Morgan Cate of Corryton; son and daughter-in- law, Randy and Amy Cate of Jefferson City; step-daughter, Stephanie Wade of Corryton; loving grandson, Trey Alan Cate of Jefferson City; brothers and sister-in-laws, Jim and Ann Cate of Seymour, Ron and Christine Cate of Knoxville; a special mother-in-law, Dorothy Taylor of Corryton; one niece, Beverly Cate of Seymour; nephews, Adam Cate of Knoxville, Michael Cate and wife Laura of Seymour; great niece, Sarah Cate of Knoxville; great nephew, Dagon Cate of Seymour; special aunts, Reba and Melita Cate of Morristown, Blanche Lowery of New Market, Naomi Russell of Knoxville, Pearl Hembree of Knoxville, Irene Hilton and husband Harold of Florida; and a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the St. Mary's Hospice and a very special thank you to his church family.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2004 at the Byerley's Chapel Baptist Church with the service to follow at 8 p.m. Rev. Wayne Loy and Rev. Arthur Pedigo will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the EverGreen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Jimmy, Jerry and Terry Russell, Bob Jones, Mike Wright and Keith Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers: Basil Ferrerria, Ernest Boling, Ray Haynes, Jeffery Jones and John Witt. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. McCarty Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
