Alice S. McCarter Harget, age 98, of Toledo, Ohio, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at Harborside of Point Place. She was born October 8, 1907, in Gatlinburg to Eli and Mary (Betsy Hatcher) McCarter. Alice attended Berea College and taught at the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School. She married Herman V. Harget on January 11, 1935, and moved to Toledo. She was employed eight years with Toledo Hospital and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Toledo and their Jolly Sixties group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Martha Bullock of Bristol, TN, Edna McFall of Richmond, VA, Billie Pickel of Pigeon Forge, and twin baby sisters, both of Gatlinburg, brothers Earl McCarter of Bristol, Eli (Tine) McCarter of Evensville, TN, Thomas (Pete) McCarter of Gatlinburg, John McCarter of Toledo, and Valentine (Tiny) McCarter Evensville, TN.

Funeral service 2 PM Tuesday in Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel in Pigeon Forge with Rev. Norman Huskey officiating. Interment will follow in White Oak Flats Cemetery.
