Roy McKinley Campbell, age 84 of Sevierville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.
Roy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. During his time in the Navy Air Group One he advanced from Seaman to Aviation Mechanist Mate Second Class and during this time he was Plane Caption on F8F's, SNB's, F4U-5's and F2H's. He did maintenance checks on R-2800-84, R-2800-32W, R-985 and on J34-WE-34 jet engines. Roy retired from Eastern Airlines after 30 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church Hialeah, FL for 54 years until moving to Tennessee where he joined Richardson Cove Baptist Church.
His great love was for the Lord and his family. He gave endlessly of himself to serve his family's needs with no regard whatsoever to his own comfort.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosa Campbell and daughter, Joan Campbell Landfield.
Survivors include his
Wife of 64 years, Dorothy Large Campbell;
Daughter, Dr. Judy Campbell Karpis and husband Alexander;
Granddaughter, Rebecca Rose Koch and husband Rudy;
Grandsons, Ryan Landfield, John Karpis and Alex McKinley Karpis;
Great-grandchildren, Grace, Claudia, William and Henry Koch;
Brother, Max Campbell and wife Sharon;
Special cousin, Ruth Ramsey

The family will receive friends 1:30-3:00 PM Sunday with funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM at Richardson Cove Baptist Church with Dr. David Ayers officiating. A eulogy will be given by Chaplain J.C. Green. Interment will follow in the Rolen-Breeden Cemetery located on the Campbell farm. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post # 104.
