Ogle Furniture Outlet opens doors with fanfare

SEVIERVILLE - It was a near-carnival this weekend that marked the grand opening of Ogle Furniture Outlet, a fitting celebration for a store of epic proportion in Sevier County.
The event drew hundreds to the Dolly Parton Parkway location for a little fun and some grand opening discounts on everything from dining room sets to rocking chairs for children.
Ron Ogle, who co-owns the business with his wife Betty, called the event a good and fitting christening for the massive business.
"We've had a good time," Ron Ogle said as he oversaw the festivities Saturday. "The Lord's been very good to us. We wanted to do something for everybody in the community to come out and enjoy and celebrate the opening of this store with us, and I think we've done that."
The event included inflatables for children, a catered meal from Damon's Grill, and live entertainment from the Stamps Quartet and the Blackwoods. For the folks who stopped - drawn in by advertising, high-flying balloons and a crowd of hundreds - the celebration did a lot to introduce the store to the community.
"We probably would have come to the store eventually, but it might have been a while if we hadn't seen all this stuff going on today," Robb Feldhege said as he watched his son Logan, 4, jump in a bounce house. "He gets to play with all the other kids and just have a good time. This is a bigger grand opening than I have seen at other places. It's very generous of them."
"We're wearing him out first so we can go look at furniture," mom Rebecca Feldhege, who is expecting her second child, said. "We came to get me a recliner so I can sit down and be comfortable."
The building, located beside Evergreen Presbyterian Church, was originally constructed to house another furniture store on property leased by the Ogles. When that business closed its doors recently, the couple decided to take their own shot at the furniture business.
"The building was designed for a furniture store and that's what it should be," Ron Ogle said. "It's a very nice facility."
The customers who took advantage of bargains offered during the grand opening seem thankful the Ogles decided to continue offering furniture at the location.
"It's a very nice store," said Jack Crye, who came shopping for a new living room suit with his wife Mary. "It's much nicer than I expected. We're really impressed."
Ogle promised good prices year-round at the store, which features a full-size, fully-decorated cabin inside the building filled with custom log furniture to give shoppers ideas for their own homes. Also available for those looking to put the finishing touches on a room are prints from Ogle's brother Randall, a well-known local artist.
"This store is unlike anything that's been around here," said J.D. Demory, who oversees the operations of the business. "It's a different concept and we think it's going to be a tremendous addition to Sevier County."
The store is located at 1063 Dolly Parton Parkway in Sevierville. For more information about it, call 453-2424 or visit www.oglefurniture.com.
