On April 9, 2011 William “Bill” Merritt began his eternal life in heaven praising and thanking his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for his amazing grace, love, and mercy.
At the age of 37 Bill came to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Since that time his heart’s desire has been to walk daily in the Spirit and to share the love of Christ with others. He was a blessing to all who knew and loved him. To God be the Glory. He has been the Pastor of First Red Bank Baptist Church for the past 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Margaret and Bill Warren, father and step-mother, Charlie and Laura Merritt, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Faye Ownby, grandson, Eli Thomas Merritt.

Son and daughter-in-law: Kent and Sarah Merritt
Daughter and son-in-law: Tracy and Larry Smith
Grandchildren: Kelci Smith, Alex Merritt, McKenzie Smith, Maggie Merritt
Sister-in-law and husband: Linda and Tom Lakey and family
Sister and brother-in-law: Sara and Mike Harris and family

Special friends: All of his brothers and sisters in Christ
Bill often said, “The members of First Red Bank Baptist Church will never know this side of heaven how much I love them.”
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Red Bank Baptist Church, Benevolence Fund, 2120 Summerfield Lane, Sevierville, TN 37876.
Funeral service 11AM Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in Middle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
