Nellie Ruth Trotter Burns, 84, of Sevierville, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, December 04, 2005 surrounded by the ones who loved her.On July 30, 1921, Ruth was born to the late W.P. and Nellie Reno Trotter in Sevier County. Ruth was a long-time member of the Wears Valley United Methodist Church. For many years she worked as a secretary for the County Extension of Sevier County.Besides her parents, her husband, William E. “Bill” Burns, sisters, Doris Snapp, Bobbie Greene; brothers, Gene and Harry Trotter preceded Ruth in death.Leaving behind to celebrate her life but mourning her passing is her daughter, Helen Rawlings and husband Mark; granddaughter, Hailey Jeanne Rawlings; sister, Charlotte Fox; sisters-in-law, Alma Curtis, Freda Fox and Genevieve Carr. Besides the immediate family, Ruth will be missed by many nieces, nephews, special friends, Bill and Verla Mitchell, Keener Shanton, James Headrick and a host of other friends and relatives whose lives she has touched.Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2005 at Mattox Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Ely and Pastor Lee Fox officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship at Wears Valley United Methodist Church following the graveside service.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be given to the Holston Home for Children, PO Box 188, Greeneville, TN 37744 or Wears Valley United Methodist Church, 3110 Wears Valley Road, Sevierville, TN 37862.You may share your thoughts and memories with the family on our website.
