John Wesley King, age 80, of Pigeon Forge, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 16, 2003, at his home after a long battle with cancer. His family was by his side. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army, a retired fireman from the Pigeon Forge Fire Department, a former deputy with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department.
Mr. King is preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Lucinda Watson King, a brother Fletcher (Cordell) King and two sisters Mae Manning and Coralee Ayers.

Loving and devoted wife of 47 years: Mary Ann Porter King
Sons: James Wesley King, Donald Ray King and wife Patricia
Daughter: Geri Lynn Cogdill and husband Roy Lee

Funeral service 2 PM Wednesday at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel, Pigeon Forge with Rev. Billy Ogle and Rev. Jerry Ogle officiating. Entombment will follow in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tim Ayers, Roy Lee Cogdill, Jimmy Brackins, Mark Hoffsis, Jason Wilbourn, and Larry Sutton. The family will receive friends 6-9 PM Tuesday at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel , 220 Emert Street, Pigeon Forge. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
