Rev. Claude C. Snapp, age 82, of Chickamauga, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
He was a retired United Methodist Church minister, serving the Holston Conference for more than 40 years before serving the North Georgia Conference for 10 years.
Mr. Snapp taught school at Dade County High School in the 1960s.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Lucille Gorman Snapp, son Roger Snapp, sister Mildred Clevenger, brothers Charles and Everett Snapp, granddaughter Kelly Whitley, and great-granddaughter Natalie Whitely.
Mr. Snapp is survived by his wife of 63 years Wanda Watts Snapp, daughters and sons-in-law Frances and Glen Whitley of Chickamauga; Brenda and John Culpepper of Chickamauga; and Diane and Leon Brown of Flat Rock, Arkansas; son David Snapp of Chickamauga; sister Helen Thornton of Lenoir City, TN; grandchildren Shane and Jessica Whitley, Juria Sitz, Brandon and Trisha Whitley, Jason and Betty Brown, and Justin Brown; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Maeser, Rev. Wayne Cook, and Rev. Charles McElhaney officiating. Interment will follow in the Chickamauga City Cemetery.
The family received friends Friday evening and will do the same prior to leaving for the church on Saturday.
