    Letch was a graduate of Cullowhee State Normal School and had lived in Haywood
    County since 1906. Letch was employed by Champion Papers from 1906 until 1957 as
    Paymaster and at the time of his retirement was Supervisor of Time-keeping. He
    was Treasurer of the Champion Credit Union from 1932 to 1957 and served as
    President of Canton Savings and Loan Association from 1932 until 1972, when he
    was named President-Emeritus. Letch was a former Alderman of the Town of Canton
    and a member of the Haywood County Board of Education. He and Viola were members
    of the Bethel Methodist Church and he served in various church offices. He was
    also a member of the Sonoma Lodge No. 472, AF & AM.

    He is buried in the Bon-A-Venture Cemetery.

    George received his education in the Haywood, North Carolia public schools.
    George was employed by Champion Papers in Canton. He was a sportsman and
    enjoyed fishing. He loved animals and raised and sold several species of
    unusual birds and he was known throughout Western North Carolina as the Bird
    Man. George was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army in the 1048th Signal
    Corps. He died of Cancer is buried in the Bon-A-Venture Cemetery.

    George married Catherine Collins 1946, Clayton, Georgia. Catherine (daughter of Dan K Collins and Delta Meadows) was born 27 Jan 1919, Canton, North Carolina; died 26 Oct 1965, Canton, North Carolina; was buried , Haywood, North Carolina. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    Gudger received his education in the Haywood County, North Carolina school
    system and graduated from Canton High School. He served in the Army during
    World War II in the 61st Machine Records Unit in Australia and the Philippines.

    After the war, Gudger returned to Canton, North Carolina and became employed by
    Champion Papers and was Supervisor of Data Processing at the time of his death
    from cancer.

    He was a fine musician and served as organist for his Methodist church for many
    years.

    Gudger is buried in the Bon-A-Venture Cemetery.

    entered the Army in 1950, and served in Louisiana and Texas in the 317th Heavy
    Tank Division. Joe was employed by the Champion Credit Union and was Manager of
    this firm until his retirement. He was living in the Bethel section of Haywood
    County, North Carolina in 1995. Joe is a man of varied interests and has a
    variety of hobbies such as collection of antiques.
