Notes:

Glen McMahan loved farming and started as a child when he was too small to lift
the yoke over the oxens' head. At twelve he started plowing with a tractor. He
and his brother, Wilbur, were the first farmers in Sevier County to raise red
burley tobacco. In 1939 he bought the first wheat combine in Sevier County.

Upon receiving a degree in agriculture from the University of Tennessee in
1931, Glenn began a long career as a county agricultural and civic leader. He
helped organize the Soil Conservation District of Sevier County and served as
supervisor and president during the years 1954-1963. He helped organize the
Sevier Farmers Co-op and served as one of the first directors as well as
Vice-president. He served on the County Court Argiculture Committee and the
Farm and Home Loan Association Committee.

Glen served as a director of the Sevier County Farm Bureau for 25 years and as
president from 1948-1950 and 1957-1971. He helped organize the Sevier County
Pig Sale, and was the first bookkeeper

Florita (daughter of Ashley Wynn Butler and Mary Catherine "Kate" Whittle) was born 29 Dec 1906, Sevier County, Tennessee; died 29 Oct 1998, Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center, Pigeon Forge, Sevier County, Tennessee; was buried 1 Nov 1998, Middle Creek Methodist Church Cemetery, Sevier County, Tennessee.
