James Seldon McMahan had been helping fix peaches all day when he was suddenly siezed with cramps in his side and bowels. The doctors thought it was cramp-colic and finally decided that his bowels were locked. Nothing relieved him and he lived only about one day and night. From the description of his case today it is assumed to have been appendicitis.
