  1. 1.  Frederick Clabaugh, Jr. died Abt 1781.

    Notes:

    Frederick was active in the military. As a young man in 1758, he served as
    Corporal in Captain John Middaugh's Company and was still Corporal in 1767 as
    seen in Captain John Middaugh's muster roll of March 2, 1767. Later he served
    as sergeant in Captain John Carmack's Company where he probably continued to
    serve through the Revolutionary War." Frederick took the oath of allegience in
    1777 and was living in Frederick County at that time.

    During the war, Frederick was living in the Tom's Creek area of Frederick
    County, Maryland, where in 1778 he served as constable. He may have been
    living on a portion of the tract called Brooks Discovery on the Rich Land where
    Sarah Lewis, his widow who had married a Mr. Lewis, was living in 1790. He mayhave moved to this area about 1770. He bought from Norman Bruce two brown, one
    bay, and one sorrel horse, one red cow, and two heifers.
