City of Newport Mayor, Mr. Connie BallMr. Ball was Alderman 1995-1998;
Vice-Mayor 1999-2005; and
was appointed Mayor July 19, 2005.

His goals for the city include the following:

* Strengthen our education programs and recruitment of a higher education program for our children;
* Provide a stronger tax base and better paying jobs through the recruitment of more businesses and industry into the area.

* Provide a safer environments for our citizens.

* Mayor Ball received his Mayor's Name Plate and the Newport Grammar School's Cheerleaders Honor plaque at his Reception on August 9, 2005 from the Board of Aldermen. These will hang at two of the entrances to the City of Newport, one on Highway 321 and the other on Highway 25/70.
