Hugh Norris was born 1800, North Carolina; died 1896; was buried Norris Cemetery, Cosby, Cocke County, Tennessee.

Notes:

Came to Cocke County, Tennessee from Washington County, Tennessee in the 1840s. The Hugh Norris home was a log structure, complete with dog trot, and stood alongside the present Bogard Road, near the Norris Cemetery and across from the home of Don and Maggie (Mayfield) Shults.

The 1850 Cocke County, Tennessee census also includes Mary Norris age 50 from North Carolina. She may have been Hugh's step mother.
