  1. 1.  Loyd Alvin Magar was born 30 Aug 1901, Ada, Indian Territory; died 17 Dec 1978, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; was buried Ardmore, Oklahoma.

    Notes:

Loyd A. Magar, or as Carl Grizzle called him "Papa", was a devout Pentecostal
Holiness. He and his wife Berttie Lee met in Ada, Oklahoma and eloped to get
married. They honeymooned, picking cotton, in Sanger, Texas when as part of
the wedding Shivaree, their wagon got turned over. They moved to Ardmore,
Oklahoma, where Papa bought what was to later be a city block. As far back as
Carl Grizzle can remember they lived at 402 Wood Street S.E., had a garden and
chickens. Carl's earliest recollections were of the "outhouse" back behind the
chicken house. Arthel and "Junior" Magar were both construction contractors in
California, and they eventually put in an indoor bathroom for them.

Papa had one brother (Millard) and one sister (Rosie) who were raised by their
uncle because their mother could not take care of them. Their father, a
traveling salesman, was killed by a train when his team of horses stopped on
    the tracks.

Their Uncle's name was Charles Wesley Summers and their Aunt's name was Dorinda
    Elizabeth (Magar) Summers.

Papa worked for the Gas company and then the Comet Milling Company. Papa was
not well educated but he provided the necessities for his family and when they
forced him to retire from the milling company at 65 he went downhill. He had
worked hard all his life and did not know what to do with all this "retirement"
    time.

A few years after his retirement, grandma started having trouble with
"Alzheimers Disease". Papa could not take care of her anymore therefore they
moved in with Florene and Carl Grizzle.

Papa died in Presbyterian Hospital and was buried in his home town according to
    his wishes.
