James married Lucinda Wideman 28 Jul 1851, , Jefferson, Missouri. Lucinda was born 16 Jan 1832, Jefferson County, Missouri; died 27 Feb 1927; was buried Bethlehem Church Cemetery, Grubville, Jefferson County, Missouri. [Group Sheet]

Lucinda Wideman was a cousin of Sarah Wideman.

Notes:

John Huskey Jr. came with his parents to Sevier County, Tennessee from South
Carolina.

Listed in the 1830 through 1850 Federal Census of Jefferson County, Missouri.

They are the only two individuals buried on the propertry. At the time of his
death, he owned 1,300 acres and was considered one of Jefferson County's most
enterprising and successful citizens. He was a farmer and ran a blacksmith
shop in "Huskey Town".

John married Nancy C. Williams Abt 1824, , Union, Illinois. Nancy (daughter of Peter Williams) was born 1803, North Carolina; died 12 Aug 1874; was buried James Huskey Cemetery, Jefferson County, Missouri. [Group Sheet]

Nancy was brought by father to Jefferson County when two or three years old.
Listed in the 1830 through 1850 Federal Census of Jefferson County, Missouri.

Another source lists Nancy as daughter of John (b. ca 1775 in South Carolina
and Elizabeth (ca 1780 South Carolina) Williams of South Carolina. This same
source says Elizabeth's grandmother was born in Kentucky.

Notes:

John Huskey went with his parents to Wilkes County, Georgia, and later to
Ninety Six District, Edgfield County, South Carolina.

John Huskey and his wife, Rachel, are listed in the 1800 Federal Census of
Edgefield District, South Carolina. There were no children listed in the
family.

In 1804 John Huskey and his family came with the Huskey and the Ogle clans from
Edgefield District, South Carolina to settle in the Walden's Creek area of
Sevier County, Tennessee.

Just before the War of 1812 broke out, John Huskey took his family to Union
County, Illinois. They were probably among the first settlers of the town of
Jonesboro, Illinois.

From "Illinois Census Returns" by Margaret Cross Norton, John Huskey appeared
in the 1818 and 1820 lists. Both lists revealed there was one white male - 21
years and upward, and five other white persons plus one servant or slave.

About 1826, John Huskey and his family migrated with his brother, Jonathan
Huskey, to Jefferson County, Missouri.

Prior to 1830, John Huskey died. His wife, Rachel Huskey appeared as the head
of household in the 1830 Federal Census of Jefferson County, Missouri. There
were still four boys still at home.

It is believed that both he and his wife Rachel are buried in Jefferson County,
Missouri.
