  1. 4.  Anton Reitnower was born Abt 1586, , Switzerland.

    Notes:

The origin of the Ridenour family is to be sought among the wild cliffs of the Rhine. In early times, they lived in the Rugesian Mountains, a warlike family, at the castle Shadeneck, a few miles from Koblenz.

The first man of whom we have knowledge, and who in all probability built the castle, was Pertinax Reitenauer. He with his man at arms, forced the people of the environment to help in the building of the castle. This proved so difficult, because of the high cliff, that five hundred men lost their lives in the work. His wife was Friedegund Von Ekenen: this name, however, has long since become extinct. Setting out from his fortress on the cliff, "he laid waste the surrounding country for a great space." He was killed by an arrow shot by mistake while on a hunt in 983 A. D.

In the year 1300, George Reitenauer was the only man of his family still living. In his nineteenth year, he married Isabella Fontenay, a countess of French extraction. Her estates lay in Picardy. He died in 1327 of wounds received in the Frierschin War. His son Bernard lived as his fathers before him. He carried off Anna Von Bauerheim, the beautiful daughter of Herman Von Bauerheim, Mayor of the City on the Rhine, and later married her. He had four sons, but only Rudolph remained at the castle Shadeneck, where in 1525 he took part in the suppression revolt.

IGI lists marriage as 4 Feb 1611.
