    Tillet Massey, maker of fiddles, came from North Carolina with his wife, Julia who was part Cherokee. They lived in the Shiloh section near Boyd's Creek. When their son, Lee, was two years old, Julia disappeared and was never heard from again. Tillet Massey, on foot and with only a back pack, returned every year to North Carolina to visit relatives. After his 90th birthday, he set out as usual over the mountains and was never seen again.
