From the Records of Commissions of Officers in Tennessee Militia 1796-1815, compiled by Mrs. John Trotwood Moore, we find that William Clabough was appointed as an Ensign, Light Infantry Company of the 11th Regiment for Sevier County, Tennessee on July 8, 1808. Later, in his early thirties, as he claimed in 1852 he served in the Creek Indian War in Alexander Hill's Company, Colonel William Carrol's Regiment, Tennessee Drafted Militia. He was drafted in McMinnville, Tennessee, in October 1813 for six months duty. He was discharged at Nashville, Tennessee in June 1814. He applied for a Bounty Land Warrant on two different dates: March 30, 1852, and September 6, 1855 with the United States Government on his war of 1812 military services. It was rejected because of insufficient information.

William and Lavina are listed in 1830 through 1850 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee as Cleaubeaugh 68 and 54. William died at his homeplace.

Notes:

John Clabaugh signed the Oath of Fidelity in 1777 in Montgomery County, but no record of John serving in the Revolutionary War has been found. Also taking the Oath of Allegience was Charles Clabaough.

John Clabaugh is listed in the 1790 Maryland Census. John and four males under the age of sixteen are listed with four females, one of them being Margaret. In the 1796 presidential election Charles, John and Jacob Clabaugh are listed on the poll. John and his family are also listed in the 1800 Maryland census.

Sometime after 1800 John and his brother Charles Clabaugh and two of John's brothers in-law, Samuel and James Ferguson headed for Tennessee.

On February 16, 1807, John Clabaugh Jr. had 126 acres on Middle Creek surveyed. On February 24, 1807, brother Charles had 219 acres surveyed on Middle Creek. On September 29, 1808 John Clabaugh's patent was issued by Governor John Sevier and Charles's patent was issued the next day.

John Clabaugh Jr. signed a petition to the Tennessee General Assembly in 1813. This is the last record found.

Nathaniel may be been born in Virginia as some sources list him (Dee Lansford).

In 1804 Nathaniel King and his family migrated to Tennessee from South Carolina. Nathaniel King with his wife, two sons and one daughter stayed for a few years in McMinn County, Tennessee. They were listed in the 1830 Federal Census there. The children settled in the Middle Creek and Wears Cove areas of Sevier County, Tennessee. They were listed in the 1830 Federal Census there.

Nathaniel King has an entry for 100 acres of land on the waters of Middle Creek in the Sevier County, Tennessee. This could, however, be his son Nathanial as he was married that year. Further evidence suggesting such is that the land bordered his son William's property and was witnessed by his two sons.

In surveyor's Book No. 1 dated in 1834 is the following:

"I have surveyed for Nathaniel King one hundred acres of land in said county lying joining the lands of Philip Roberts Sen

"Beginning on a Poplar near a corner to said Roberts land, running then with Middle Creek S 68 E 60 Poles to a stake, N 59 E 94 Poles to a white Oak near the water fall a corner to an Entry in the name of William King, then with the same N 8 47 Poles to a white oak a corner to same, the with V[acant] L[ands] N 43 94 Poles to a Black Oak, S 70 W 102 Poles to a Black Oak and Pine on a Ridge, S 5 W 83 Poles to a stake & mulberry on or near the line of George Fox, S 38 E 25 Poles to the Beginning.

In the 1850 Sevier County, Tennessee Census, there is an Elizabeth King age seventy one living with her son Wyly King age forty nine, and wife Margaret Adair King age forty nine. From the information gathered so far, Elizabeth would have been born about 1779, married about 1795 or early 1796, at age sixteen or seventeen. Her first child, daughter Lavina King was born about 1796, her second child son, Wyley King was born in February of 1798. Elizabeth would have been age thirty nine when her last child, son Andrew Jackson King was born. Elizabeth was about age seventy three when she died in Sevier County, Tennessee.

Family tradition says Henry Bohannon served in the American Revolution from the state of Virginia. A record in Virginia State Library's "List of Revolutionary Soldiers of Virginia" showed Henry Bohannon served as a private in the 1st Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line, Light Dragoon, commanded by Captain Robert Boling for a three year enlistment, 6 July 1778 to Jun 1781. The regiment was raised from the area south of James River for the relief of General Nathaniel Greene in the South during the Revolutionary War.

In Virginia Soldiers of 1776 by Louis A. Burgess, it was found that apparently this same Henry Bohannon received bounty warrant number 1394 for 100 acres on 6 July 1781 and bounty warrant number 1390 for 200 acres on 23 June 1783 from the State of Virginia. It was for his Revolutionary War service in the Continental Line. As late as 1856, the records show the bounty warrants were not redeemed. It is believed this Henry Bohannon went to the state of South Carolina, and later to Sevier County, Tennessee, rather than into the Kentucky and Ohio military district under the auspices of the state of Virginia.

In 1790 Federal Census of Ninety-six District, Abbevile County, South Carolina, there was 1 white male over 16 years; 4 white females in the household ... Henry Bohannon and his wife, Amillia Shotwell, three daughters born from circa 1786 to 1790.

From 1800 Federal Census of Abbeville District, South Carolina, there were 2 white males and 2 white females under 10 years of age; 2 white females age 10-16; 2 white females age 16-26; 1 white male and 1 white female age 26-45 in the household ... Henry Bohannon and his wife, Amillia Shotwell, eight children born from circa 1786 to 1800. [NOTE: This household was listed under the name - HENRY BUCKHANAN]

Circa 1801, Henry Bohannon and his family migrated to Sevier County, Tennessee from Abbeville District, South Carolina. There was one early land entry for Henry Bohannon in Sevier County. This land grant, dated 15 June 1810, is as follows:

"...a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and fifty and three roods lying in the County of Sevier in the District South of French Broad and Holston, there being due and chargeable on said land the sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars seventy five Cents with the Interest thereon." This land joined the line of Hugh Duggan, James Oldham and vacant lands. It was located in the watershed of the East Fork of Little Pigeon River.

At an early date the family evidently lived in White Oak Flats community (now Gatlinburg, Tennessee). In November 1817 the Forks of Little Pigeon Baptist Church met with a group of people from White Oak Flats community...they agreed to hold a meeting for reception of new members at "Henry Bohannon's place in White Oak Flats."

In December 1817 when the White Oak Flats Baptist Church was formed as an arm of "Fork of Little Pigeon Baptist Church" in Sevierville, Tennessee, Henry Bohannon's wife, Amillia, was listed as a charter member.

There was another land entry for Henry Bohannon dated 25th day of January 1826. This land grant indicated that this family moved from White Oak Flats community to the area of Middle Creek and Pigeon Forge. It was as follows: "...a certain tract of land containing fifty acres, lying in the county aforesaid, on the waters of Mill Creek..." and joined the vacant lands and William White's line.

Listed in 1840 Sevier County, Tennessee census 1 male 5-10, 1 male 70-80, 1 female 5-10 and 1 female 40-50.

It is believed that Henry Bohannon lived and died at his home on "waters of Mill Creek".
