    Richard F. Jauch '39

    Growing up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Richard attended Glenbard High School where he was a member of football and track teams. He was captain of the 1933 state championship football team and place third in the shot put at the Illinois State Track Championship.

    Entering Lake Forest in 1936, Richard was a four time participant on both the football and baseball teams. He was a left halfback on the 1938 undefeated, untied team. He also played third base on the baseball team and was a member of the Letterman's Club and Kappa Sigma fraternity. After college, Richard continued to play football as a member of the Glen Ellyn Bears, a semi-professional team.

    Following graduation, Richard, a economics and education major, was a Lieutenant in the Navy during World War II. When he returned from the war, he worked at the Spring Grove Lumber Company where he was a general manager. He and his wife, Harriette '40, were the first husband and wife to be inducted into the Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame.

    Harriette Morgan Jauch '40

    Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Harriette attended Amundsen High School where she was actively involved in the Girls Athletic Association. She also competed in many park district activities.

    Entering Lake Forest in 1936, Harriette was an assistant to the physical education staff during her undergraduate years. She was also a member of Gamma Phi Beta which competed in many of the Women's Recreation Association tournaments. In 1962 she returned to the College as the women's athletic director and physical education instructor. Her involvement was instrumental in the development of women's intercollegiate athletics at the College. She coached the field hockey, women's basketball, and women's tennis teams to several undefeated seasons during her twelve-year coaching career. Harriette was a also member of the National Association of Women's Physical Educators and the Midwest Association of Women's Physical Educators.

    From 1974 to 1982 she served as assistant to the College's Vice President of Development. Following her retirement, Harriette continued to serve the College on the Alumni Board of Directors. She continues her involvement in athletics by swimming and golfing. On the course, she has won several golf trophies. She and her husband, Richard F. Jauch '39, were the first husband and wife to be inducted into the Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame.

    He was a Charter member of Willard Memorial Methodist Church, Euclid and Harvard in Oak Park, Illinois. This church was dissolved in 1993, but the structure still stands in 2012.

    Frederick died of cancer in his home at 1129 South Euclid Avenue and was buried in Section 3 Lot N.1/2 of 103 Arlington Cemetery at 3:30 Tuesday February 1943.
