    Biography:

Sherry Robertson Huskey has announced her candidacy for re-election as Register of deeds for Sevier County.

"It has been a great honor to serve in this important office," said the Register. "I look forward to serving our citizens again and continuing with the modernization of our systems."

Sevier County has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years. This growth is reflected in the increased filing of warranty deeds, deeds of trust and other real estate documents. The amount of fees and state tax collected by the office in the year 2005 exceeded $8,200,000, an increase of over $1,300,000 from the previous year. Huskey has continued to upgrade the technology of the office to keep up with this rapid growth.

"Our goal is to record and preserve the records accurately," Huskey said, "while maintaining the helpful service that people have expected from this and other public offices. I am proud of the personnel who work in the Register's Office. They are not only very efficient but are also friendly and helpful."

In the year 2005, Huskey was named Outstanding Register by the County Official Association of Tennessee. She has served as president of the East Tennessee Registers Association as well as president of the Tennessee Registers Association. Huskey has been East Tennessee Register of the Year and Tennessee Register of the Year.

She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg, the Sevierville Lions Club and the Sevier County Republican Women. She currently is secretary of the Sevier County Republican Party. Huskey has served on the advisory board of the Salvation Army and as divisional chair person for the United Way. She is a graduate of Sevier County High School and the University of Tennessee Officials Certficate Training program. She also is a graduate of Leadership Sevier.

Huskey is the daughter of Veryl S. Henderson and the late A.T. Henerson, Jr. She is married to Charles Ray Huskey. They have three children, Mandy Sandlin and husband Daniel, Derrick Robertson and wife Susan, and Stephanie Huskey. They have one grandaughter, Grace.
