Notes: Within six weeks of the date of Samuel's wife's will (Jean Ewing) Samuel sold off his land and farming equipment and six weeks after that he was dead. Rather obviously Samuel Mateer was sick unto death for some time before his demise, and it was appropriate that his wife's family should be distressed to contemplate the future for his widow and young children.
