William Maples Descendants

William Maples, born 1740/45 in Virginia, came with his brother Josiah Maples to East Tennessee in the early 1800's .

Listed are 10 generations of 1,555 known descendants (2,420 if you include spouses) of William Maples, most who migrated to the Smoky Mountains.

Joyce Wicks nee McElroy descends from Thomas and Lydia (Atchley) Maples. She believes Thomas' father was Josiah Maples, brother of William but has not found proof.

Charlie Avis is researching Josiah Maples b. 1757 NC m. Mary Overton (b. 1767) who may be William's brother.

William P. Maples is researching Elnathan Maples (born about 1807) who may have Tennessee connections.

Wayne Summers is researching Jesse Maples who was born in Virginia (probably Pittsylvania Co.) c1786. He married 1) Jemimah -?- in 1815 in Sevier Co., TN (She was born 1790 in Sevier Co. & 2) Mildred -?- b. c1803. Jesse moved to Bradley Co., TN around 1831. He had 10 children: Alexander Preston, Americus Bonaparte, James Gunter, William Atchley, Rachel, Martha, Sarah, Elizabeth, Andrew Jackson (or John Andrew who migrated to Michigan), and Marion.
