Davis, Richard F, born January 23, 1925 in Knoxville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Monday December 15, 2014 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Richard was a faithful member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church since he was a very young boy. He was a member of the "Come and Dine" Sunday School Class. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Charles McKinney Lodge and The Scottish Rite. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Bangust. The Davis' owned and operated Colonial Cleaners in Knoxville, TN from 1956 until April 2013. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Frank A. Davis and Hassie Smith Davis; and sister Mildred D. Talley. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Dorothy Goan Davis; two daughters, Brenda Tenpenny (Jimmy) and Deborah Carr (Jack); three grandchildren: Wendy Tenpenny Erwin (Scott), Michael Tenpenny (Angela), and Jennifer Lash Anders (Brad); seven great-grandchildren: Anna Kate Tenpenny, Lauren Tenpenny, Grace Anne Erwin, Katherine Erwin, Elijah Erwin, Sophia Erwin, and Addison Anders; sisters, Mary Evelyn White and Barbara Cassady; and brother, George Davis (Opal). Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 12:00 Noon, Dr. Hollie Miller officiating. Interment will follow at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway with Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
