• Notes

  Early in life Blaine received the nickname of "K. O.". This name given to him by H. C. Fox, and stayed with him all of his life. Lots of people never knew his given name. Blaine began school at the age of five years. Attending Pittman Center school where his father, Arnold, drove the school bus. He went to school all of his school years at Pitman Center, graduating high school in 1948. K. O. worked for Robertson Brothers and Sharp hardware in Sevierville, Tennessee after high school. Later he had his own trucking business, hauling coal from Kentucky to Sevier County, Tennessee. He also spread fertilizer on farms in Sevier, Tennessee and other counties. Blained served on the Board of Education from 1958 to 1960. He was elected Trustee of Sevier County, Tennessee in 1962 and served six 4 year terms, a total of 24 years. After retiring from the office of Trustee he went to school and received his Real Estate and Brokers license. In 1994 his office was in Sevierville, Tennessee where he dealt in real estate and other rental properties. ---------- Reference: Rosa Lee Downey notes, 16 June 1983, p 35. He was a member and Trustee of Richardson's Cove Baptist Church, owner of Sevier Co. Real Estate Appraisals and Rentals, former President of Sevier Co. Farm Bureau, member of Board of Directors of Suntrust Bank and served 24 years as Sevier Co. Trustee. Survivors: wife, Georgia Hopkins McMahan; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dean Lewis; son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Sandy McMahan; grandchildren, Janelle Patterson and Chris, Blaine DeArnold Lewis, Tina Lewis, Cindy Cubberly and Matthew, Lynde Wear, Lacey Wear; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Grace McMahan, Arlecy Hopkins, Colleen McCall; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 2 p.m., Sunday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Rev. Melvin Carr and Rev. Andy Ball officiating. Interment will follow in Richardson Cove Cemetery. Pallbearers: Blaine Lewis, Matthew Walker, Ted McMahan, Coy Green, Lawrence Manning and Jim Bookstaff. Honorary pallbearers: Clyde McMahan, Ben King, Sidney Phillips, Leonard Waring, Bill Broady, Joe Woods, Hassel Wolfe and James O. Barnes.
