Kerley, Wade G., age 71 of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 1, 2003, after a courageous 11 year battle with cancer. He was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War and retired from Capper, Inc. Preceded in death by parents, Joe and Pearl Kerley and sister, Dora Jane Ownby.
Survivors
Loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Betty Franklin Kerley; daughter, Robin Kerley of Knoxville; son, Jeffrey Kerley and wife, Jonie of LaVergne, TN; Kenneth Kerley of Knoxville; daughter, Kristi Kerley of Knoxville; grandchildren, Michael and Mikayla Franklin; sisters, Betty Frazier, Faye Rader, and Frankie Sexton and husband, Bob; brother, Allen Kerley and wife, Peggy; and several nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
Service
Family and friends will meet at the Rotunda at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Monday, January 6, 2003 at 9:30 AM for graveside services with Rev. Corey Golden and Rev. Kent Williams officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Volunteer State Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Wade G. Kerley Medical Fund, c/o Robin Kerley, 3301 Forestdale Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee 37917, to help defray medical expenses. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
