Bettis, Hillis Blackburn age 87 of Maryville passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and the Home Demonstration Club. Preceded in death by her husband, Francis Lyle Bettis; sons, Don and Kim Bettis; brother, Lester Blackburn. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Charles Jones of Monroe Co., TN; grandchildren and spouses, Tanya and Joey Smith, Lyle and Cameron Jones, Becky and Jerry Poff, and Jason and Nicole Jones; great grandchildren, Zane, Cody, Cayla, Jessie, Amber, Victoria, Brandon, Jerry, Pacey, Jerica, Jessica, Cierra, Ricky, and Jay; sisters, Blackie Davis of Alcoa and Bette Rueter of Maryville. Funeral service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Clark’s Grove Cemetery for graveside and interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, PCA – for the handicap entrance fund. Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.
