BEST, EDGAR W. age 92 of Maryville, died Sunday, February 20, 2000, at Maryville Healthcare Center. He was a member of Carpenters United Methodist Church, was retired from ALCOA and a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ethleen Baumgardner; mother and father, Coy and Cora Best; sister, Mary Coning, brothers, Truman, Fred, Claude and Lawrence. Survivors include: wife Edith Giffin Best; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Bob Carpenter, Frances and C.A. Graves, all of Maryville; daughter, Jean Everett of Hamilton, Ohio; son, James Best of Maryville; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Alice Best, Ronald and Eleanor Best, Paul and Mary Ann Best all of Maryville; 23 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Dawson of Santa Ana, Calif.; brothers, Burl and Vern Best both of Maryville. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Mathess officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Carpenter's Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home, Maryville, In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carpenter's United Methodist Church, 3538 Best Road, Maryville, TN 37801.
