Hailey Hamlett Turner, age 101 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at LeConte Medical Center.
She attended Aspen School in Brookneal, Virginia where she was a cheerleader and performed in many school plays.
In 1949, she became a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville. She was president of her Sunday School Class for more than 20 years, sang in the choir, and was active with the ladies mission group, and upon her death was the oldest living member
She was one of the first Pink Lady volunteers at Sevier County Hospital when it opened in 1965. At the age of 65, Mrs. Turner began working at the Sevier County Nursing Home and worked until the age of 80, when she began private sitting, retiring from that job at the age of 86.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Turner Sr.; her infant daughter, Betty Jean Turner; parents, Floyd and Jennie Hamlett; and 10 siblings.

Daughters and Sons-in-law: Pat and Harry Ray, Jenny and Ralph Chance
Son and Daughter-in-law: Glenn and Faye Turner
Grandchildren: Cynthia Koontz and husband Mickey, Mark Turner and wife Lisa, Matt Turner and wife Shirley, Tina Davis and husband Greg, and Nicole Carter and husband Rob.
Great Grandchildren: Nathan Turner and wife LeAnn, Abigail Starritt and husband Logan, Amber Turner, Autumn Turner, Anisa Davis, Tristan Davis, Margaret Carter and Harrison Carter.
Great-Great Grandson: Johnathan Loveday
Brother-in-law: Ralph Edward Turner and wife Gerri.
And her extended Virginia family including many generations of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 7 PM Thursday at First Baptist Church, Sevierville with Rev. Dan Spencer, Rev. Jerry Hyder, and Rev. Craig Mintz officiating and music provided by Rev. Scott Andrews. Interment: 11 AM Friday in Middle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-6:45 PM Thursday at First Baptist Church, Sevierville. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
