TAYLOR, LARRY EVERETTE - age 56, formerly of Knoxville, passed away suddenly at his home in Jacksonville, NC, from a heart attack. Larry (aka "Spud") was a graduate of Bearden High School, class of 1971. He served in the United States Coast Guard and later worked off the shores of Louisiana as a Merchant Marine. Returning to Knoxville in 1977 following the death of his mother, "The Strip" became his home, and he was known as "Pickle." Larry was currently employed at Walmart in Jacksonville, NC, where he had acquired many friends since he moved there around 1993 (returning to the coast he so loved). Predeceased by parents, Roy Everett and Dorothy Ingle Taylor and uncle, Gene "Rusty" Taylor. Survived by brother, Robert "Bobby" Taylor; sister, Beverly Taylor and fiance Tom Thompson; aunt, Hazel Taylor; cousins, Linda "Dee Dee" Trentham, Mike, and David Taylor. A special "Thank you" to Donna Stroup, his manager, Sean Drowry, and all of his Walmart associates. Larry will be especially missed by Brenda and Teressa Swinson, Thomas Slynn, Pearlene Johnson, and Larry, Darlene and Savannah Whaley, his close friends in Jacksonville, who were like family and called Larry "Smiley" for his ever-present smile. Family and friends will assemble at Shiloh Cemetery (Henderson Chapel), Pigeon Forge, TN, on Saturday, February 7, 2009 for a 2 pm inurnment, Rev. W.A. Gaylon officiating.
