Joy Lee (Reed) Cannon age 86 of Sevierville, Tennessee, passed away at home after a long illness on April 6, 2013. Joy was the youngest of seven children, and after graduating from Young High School, started work with a Knoxville furniture company. Soon after she married J. Paul Cannon and they lived a short time in Knoxville before moving to a home in Seymour. In 1962 they moved to a new home in the Boyd's Creek community where she was an active member of Boyd's Creek Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school and participating in other church activities. She also supported local schools and Scouting. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Paul Cannon; her parents, James and Ethel Reed; brothers, Carl and wife Gussie, Ruben and wife Bobbie, Raymond and wife Gladys and Don Reed; sisters, Mayme (Reed) Sayne and husband Ralph, Edna (Reed) Houser and husband Raymond; and her youngest sons Robert and Michael.
She is survived by:
Children: Jim Cannon and wife Cathy, Mary Lee (Cannon) Stinnett and husband Eddie, and John Cannon and wife Christi.
Grandchildren: Heather (Cannon) Ellenberger, Mark Baker and wife Tonya, Ryan Cannon and wife Erin, Blake Cannon, Alex Stinnett, Jared Cannon, and Rachel Cannon.
Great-grandchildren: Cole Baker, Aaron Baker, Ethan Baker, Jade Ellenberger, and McKayla Cannon.
Step-grandchildren: Brandy Morrow, Shauna Carr and husband Josh, Chad Isbill and wife Tiffany.
Step-great-grandchildren: Drew Morrow, Michael Chastain, Dixie Chastain, Blaine McChesney, Luke Carr, Caysen Carr, and Riley Isbill.
Sisters-in-law: Ernestine (Caldwell) Reed, Gerri (Cannon) Gibson and husband Bob, Fay Cannon
Brothers-in-law: Roy Cannon, Poe Cannon and wife Charlotte, Bob Cannon and wife Betty
Special Aunt: Dena Weston

Funeral service 7 PM Thursday in Atchley's Seymour Chapel, with Rev. Bill Stephens officiating. Interment 10 AM Friday in Boyd's Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour, 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, Tennessee, 37865, (865) 577-2807.

Joy Lee and J. Paul Cannon of Sevierville celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on March 1.
Joy Lee Reed and J. Paul Cannon were married March 1, 1947 in the parsonage of the New Hopewell Baptist Church. J.H. Smothers officiated the ceremony. Rose Cannon and Ethel Reed served as witnesses.
The bride’s parents were James and Ethel Reed. The groom’s parents were Kelly and Rose Cannon.
Mr. Cannon is retired as president of Knoxville Mack. Mrs. Cannon is a housewife.
The couple had five children: Jim Cannon, Mary Lee Stinnett, John Cannon, Robert Cannon (deceased) and Michael Richard Cannon (deceased). The have seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
