JOHNSON, GLADYS DESMER (DEE) McCARTER - 79, died peacefully at University of Tennessee Medical Center Thursday, November 13 after a brief illness. She lived more than 30 years in Cumberland Estates until moving to Concord two years ago. Dee worked for more than 25 years in the family business at A.T. Johnson Produce Co. on Forest Avenue. She was an avid country music fan and doll collector. She also loved watching and listening to UT Football and Baseball. She will be missed for being a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, but mostly for her contagious laugh. Dee was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Andrew Johnson. She is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Jean Johnson, Albert and Susan Johnson, and Andy and Susan Johnson. She is also survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Joann and Evans Fine, Judy and Charles Hux, and Loretta and James Patty grandchildren, Terri Gingrich, Raymond (Ray) Johnson, Jr., Jennifer Robinson, Amanda (Mandy) Gex, Brad Johnson, Melissa Neal, Marty Hux, James Patty, Jason Johnson, Casey Johnson, and Dusty Johnson. She will also be missed by: her great grandchildren, Nathan, Emily and Jonathan Robinson, Hailey and Hunter Neal and Josie Gex. She will be sorely missed by: her sisters, Shirley Meece, Alma McCulley, Iva McLure, Ella Mae Lovell, and Lenora Gaylon and brother, James McCarter. The family would like to thank the staff of specialists, doctors and nurses at UT Medical Center for their attention, care and compassion in helping the family deal with our loss. Funeral service will be held 8 P.m. Friday at Weaver Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hammock officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at Highland Memorial Gardens for interment service. Mrs. Johnson's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
