Carroll H. Matthews, 86, of Sevierville, TN went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. He served his country as a Corporal and MP in the U.S. Army. Carroll retired from Sevier County Electric System after 36 years of service. He served as Justice of the Peace of the 5th District between 1962-1978, and married over 200 couples, most at his home. Carroll served on several committees and also on the Board for the Sevier County Rescue Squad. He was the Congressional Delegate for Congressman James H. Quillen. He was very instrumental, along with others, in bringing the hospital to Sevier County. He was on the industrial committee that brought multiple plants to the area. Carroll served as Song Leader at his church, New Era Baptist, for several decades and loved the Lord. He was devoted to his church, his family, and his friends. Carroll never said goodbye without saying, “If you need anything, call me!” and he truly meant it.
