Roberta (Bobbie) Lagier Franklin, a native of Paris, France and having lived in Gatlinburg and Knoxville, died Monday,, April 7, 2008, with her daughter Bernadette at her side after a long illness of Alzheimer's. She had been living with her daughter in Los Angeles, Calif., since 1998. Born in Paris, France July 18, 1918, she met Bob during WWII, where she was also an English translator for the American soldiers during the war. They married June 8, 1947 and came back to Sevierville after the war to make their life together. After 25 years in the Army, and living many places, Bob and Bobbie retired to Gatlinburg in 1971 to be close to his family.
Her daughter would like to request that family and friends meet Friday, May 9, 2008, at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville at 1 p.m. for a memorial service and then proceed to Providence Cemetery for a short graveside service with Monsignor Thoni from St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating.

Roberta (Bobbie) Lagier Franklin a native of Paris, France and having lived in Gatlinburg, TN and Knoxville, TN, died peacefully at home early Monday evening, April 7, 2008, with her daughter Bernadette at her side after a long illness of Alzheimer’s. She had been living with her daughter in Los Angeles, CA, since 1998.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Melvin Franklin and her eldest daughter, Claudette Franklin Jones. Survivors are daughter, Bernadette Franklin of Los Angeles, CA, grandsons, Albert M Jones, IV and Kyle Robert Jones, son-in-law Albert M Jones, III, of Baton Rouge, LA, brothers-in-law Herbert Franklin and Gene Franklin and Jim and Zelma Franklin, and several nieces and nephews. She has a surviving sister in France, Andree Roussin and niece Denise and husband Gilbert Brun, and niece Annie Chantereau and several great nieces and nephews.
