Lonnie Ottinger seeks CLB seat

Lonnie Ottinger has announced that he is a candidate for County Legislative Body, District 2, Post 1, in the upcoming General Election. He is the son of the late Hazel and Maynard Ottinger.
Lonnie and his wife Judy are active members of Browns Chapel Church, in the Long Creek Community, where Lonnie serves as one of the Trustees. Lonnie currently holds the position of assistant road superintendent for the Cocke County Road Department, where he has been employed for 23 years. He also owns and operates a farm, which includes raising beef cattle. He has lived and worked on this farm his entire life. Lonnie proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Cocke Farmers Co-op. Lonnie states, "If elected I will strive to keep taxes as low as possible and to operate the county in an efficient manner. I would manage tax dollars very conservatively. I believe that with honesty and hard work you can move forward. "I will try to personally see as many people in my District as I possibly can. If I should miss seeing you, please know that your vote and support on August 3, 2006 will be greatly appreciated."

Lonnie Ottinger announces candidacy for County Legislative Body, District 2, Post
Lonnie Ottinger is announcing his candidacy for County Legislative Body, District 2, Post 1, in the upcoming General Election.
He is the son of the late Hazel and Maynard Ottinger. Lonnie is a lifetime resident of Parrottsville and a 1975 graduate of Parrottsville High School. Lonnie and his wife Judy are active members of Browns Chapel Church, in the Long Creek Community.
Lonnie currently holds the position of Assistant Road Superintendent for the Cocke County Road Department, where he has been employed for 28 years. He also owns and operates a farm, which includes raising beef cattle. He has lived and worked on this farm his entire life.
Lonnie has proudly served the people of the 2nd District for a total of 12 years as Commissioner, during which time he has served on several committee's, such as Public Safety Committee, Landfill Committee, Purchasing Agent Committee, and the Finance Committee, which he served as Chairman for 2 years. Lonnie, along with other Commissioner's, managed the task of balancing a budget without a tax increase during the past 4 year term.
He has recently been working with officials at Newport Utilities concerning the possibility of obtaining grants for public water supply to needed areas of the 2nd District. The pre-application process has begun, and Newport Utilities has committed to their share should a final application be approved. This will be an important issue during the next term, along with the issue of jobs needed for the entire community.
Lonnie states "If re-elected I will strive to keep taxes as low as possible and to operate the county in an efficient manner. I would continue to manage tax dollars very conservatively. I believe that with honesty and hard work you can move forward. I am looking forward to working with our new Mayor and CLB members toward the improvement of our County."
