John Audley Thompson, age 68 of the Waldens Creek Community, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2007, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Waldens Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He worked for Chas. Blalock & Sons for 39 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents John R. Thompson and Lue Crettie Thompson Teaster, brothers Glen Thompson and James C. Whaley, and sisters Ruth Ogle and Clara Nell McClure.
Survivors include his:
Wife of 50 years: Julia N. Thompson
Son and daughter-in-law: Joe and Peggy Thompson of Strawberry Plains, TN
Daughters: Jo Ann Ailey, Vickie Thompson, both of Sevierville
Grandchildren: Mark Ailey and wife Clarissa of Kodak, Kristen Smith and husband Nathan, Kara Memelo all of Sevierville, Kelli Jo Thompson of Jacksonville, FL
Great-grandchildren: Jakob and Elijah Ailey, Ethan and Faith Memelo, Madison Smith
Brother: George Thompson of Fulton, KY
Sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and Otis Newman of Monterey, TN
Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Otha and Millie McClure of Newport, TN
Special friends: Nurses and friends from Dr. Allan Grossman’s office and Adventa Hospice Care
Funeral service 1 PM Sunday at Waldens Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Clay and Rev. Edward King officiating. Interment will follow in Waldens Creek Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
